in honour of my birthday this week, saturday was declared the day of shan.

it started with two hours of my current addiction, civilization iv. (no, really. we set alarms and everything.) then a trip to adriano zumbo’s patisserie for macarons. i’ve never watched masterchef, but i figured that the number of people raving about his macarons can’t be wrong. it took about an hour all up, from the time we joined the rather long queue to the time we walked out of his tiny little store, but i think it was worth it. it’s certainly not something i’d be keen on doing regularly, though.

next stop: sydney aquarium! i had a free double pass, so thought the day of shan was the perfect opportunity for it.

    I have only ever eaten macaroons in France (I sound like I’m full of myself now…) I am always scared to eat something so delicate in a different country, but I’ll believe you they were good.

    I’ve been wanting to make macaroons lately, but ohmi they are a lot a lot a lot of work! I’ve never even had one so I don’t even know if I’d like them. How disappointing would that be if I didn’t after all that work! Your aquarium day looked really fun! :)
