tonight.

tonight – my last free evening before returning to work tomorrow – will be spent with andrew bird. at the sydney opera house. i am so, so excited. i can’t think of a more magical venue for him to play.

i first saw him live in 2007, at NIDA for spunk’s 10th anniversary show, and also at the basement, where i snapped this photo of him:

then again in 2008, where he played at the famous spiegeltent during sydney festival, and did another show at the vanguard in newtown a few days later.

and now, in 2010, at the sydney opera house. i’ve heard he’s broken his foot and will be on crutches for the whole show. awwww.

oh, be still my heart.

    Bloody brilliant photo. Wouldn’t worry too much about the crutches — AB played seated at the HiFi in Melbs Jan 1 and it was a tremendous show — very focused. There may well have been fewer nervous tics than usual, which maybe wasn’t such a bad thing. The audience was as gobsmacked as about any I’ve ever been a part of. (”You’re all very…attentive,” quoth Mr B.) We musta looked like a pack of meerkats from his perspective.

    he was wonderful! he seemed genuinely awed to be playing at the opera house, which was very cool.

    Oh, it is really so much attracting me. I have learn to play guitar and now playing on training base in a band. Thanks for your sweet post.
